Custom Orders
I have been so busy with custom orders in the last month that I haven't had time to blog! I am currently working on three custom order baby quilts but in between doing those I have made a lot of custom order camera strap covers.
Now I'm going to finish off this month's Bee blocks and get outside and make the most of the sunshine.

Camera Strap Covers
A photographer friend of mine recently asked me if I could make her a camera strap for her camera. I did a bit of googling and came up with this great tutorial for a camera strap cover from LBG Studio.
Since posting this photo on my personal Facebook page I now have orders to make 6 more!
This one is for sale in my shop.

Sunday Stash # 24
There have been some major additions to my stash in the last few months. Sadly, this is because my local quilt shop, Finchs Nest, is closing down. The only good part about this is that the entire store is 50% off. Following are just SOME of the purchases I have made.

WIP Wednesday: Low Volume Baby Quilt
Today I'm auditioning binding for this low volume baby quilt top I made on the weekend.
I'm trying to use up as much of my scraps and stash as possible at the moment. I really need to stop buying new fabric and start using what I have. So far, it hasn't been a challenge!

Little Wonky Triangles
July's bee block was this cute, and super simple, wonky triangle block.
Janine pointed us to this post and said she wanted these for her month. Her requirements were that they were 6.5" white squares, in rainbow colours (we chose which colour we wanted) and tone on tone fabrics. I chose purple as I had quite a few tone on tone purple scraps.
This block is a fantastic scrap buster. I used solely scraps for these. I love how they look together too. I'm now planning some scrappy baby quilts using this block. Just add it to the ever growing list.....

Giant I-Spy Cushion
On Wednesday night I finished this giant 24" I-Spy cushion for Master 3.
It's made up of four 12.5" blocks that I randomly pieced improv style from all manner of boy type fabrics. Some scraps, some stash.
I had a go at free motion quilting for the first time on something other than a secondhand pillowcase stuffed with scrap batting. It's certainly not perfect but it's not too bad and definitely better than I expected. I used a lovely variegated King Tut thread.
Master 3 chose this motorbike print for the back. Motorbikes are the flavour of the month.
I used this great tutorial to put the cushion cover together. These cushions are a great way to use up scraps and practice free motion quilting. I will definitely be making more.

Star Value Block
Sue's June block in QCA Bee # 2 was this Star Value block. You can find the tutorial at Happy Quilting.
I used only scraps and some low volume charm squares. I'm not a huge fan of making half square triangles but I love the effect that they make with this block. Looking forward to seeing all the blocks together.

The Urge To Start Something New
Today I woke up with the overwhelming desire to make baby quilts. This morning I'm having some fabric play for inspiration.
Really, when I get the urge to create I should work on those numerous WIP's in the cupboard. But sometimes, to get back into the swing of things, you just need to start fresh with a new project.

Catching Up On Bee Blocks
You will have to excuse my recent absence. Things have been happening in the real world and I have hardly even touched my sewing machine. However, last Saturday night I dragged her out and caught up on my Bee blocks.
Mod Mosaic blocks for Fiona. May block for our QCA # 2 Bee. Tutorial at Oh Fransson!. I busted out my precious Nightshade fabrics for one of them.
Great Granny Squares for Lauren. June block for our Scraps & Solids Bee. Tutorial at Bee In My Bonnet.
Stargazer blocks for Fiona. August block for our Scraps & Solids Bee. Tutorial at Little Bluebell. Fiona wanted one colour for both blocks, and having the fabrics graduate.
I'm hoping to tackle our June block for the QCA # 2 Bee tonight. Lot's of half square triangles. Stay tuned.

Blogger's Quilt Festival: Red & Aqua String Block Quilt
This is the first time I have entered a quilt in the Blogger's Quilt Festival at Amy's Creative Side. Exciting! I am entering my Red & Aqua String Block Quilt. Here is it's story....
I joined my first quilt block bee in February 2012. I was first up in February and this is the block that I chose. The string block. Tutorial at Film In The Fridge. I chose red and aqua for my colour scheme.
I received so many lovely blocks from my fellow bees but I also had to make a lot myself as it was only a small 8" block. Initially I intended it to be a 60" x 60" lap quilt but I just couldn't bring myself to make any more blocks so it ended up 45" x 60". Which is still a good size for me.
The back was pieced using Nesting Chairs in Celebration by Laurie Wisbrun, Lotus by Amy Butler and some gorgeous red Timeless Treasures fabric I had in my stash. I went with a grey binding as it was a bit softer than black and it blended beautifully with the greys in the Nesting Chairs and Lotus fabrics.
The quilting was done by the owner of my local quilt shop, Finch's Nest. I have so many WIP's at the moment that I just wanted to get it out the way and I knew that my straight line quilting just wasn't going to do this one any justice. I made the right decision.
Master 3 and I went to the HMAS Sydney II memorial in town and took these photos. It was a typical windy Geraldton day.
Category: Two Colour Quilts
Size: 45" x 60"
Quilted by: My local quilt shop
Batting: Wool
