Sunday Stash # 13
Just one lonely little addition to the stash this week. A 15cm cut of this cute bird fabric for my low volume stash. My local quilt store has extended their big sale for another 4 weeks so there's no rush to get anything now but there wasn't much of this left on the bolt so I had to get some.
I ordered my backing and binding fabrics for the red and aqua string block quilt and the Cameo quilt.
While I was there, and spending money on fabric for myself, I added another print to my Ghastlies stash. When I get around to taking some photos, I will show you what I already have. The Ghastlies is one of my favourite fabric collections and I plan to make myself a queen size bed quilt with it. One day.

Red & Aqua String Block Top
Last night I finally put together all the blocks for my Quilt Club Australia Block Bee 2 quilt. My red and aqua string blocks.
The top measures 45" x 60". I had originally planned for it to be 60" x 60" but I just couldn't bare to make any more blocks. I was over it. It's still going to be a nice lap quilt and it's more about showcasing the blocks that my friends in the Bee have made than making a specific size quilt.
I have chosen Perfectly Perched Nesting Chairs In Celebration for the back, which I need to order, but I can't decide on a binding. Later in the week I will take it into my local quilt shop and audition a few fabrics.
What do you think would be good for the binding?

Squeeze Your Own Bundle Competition
Alyce at Blossom Heart Quilts, and Randi at Fresh-Squeezed Fabrics are teaming up to bring us the Squeeze Your Own Bundle Competition.
1. You choose 8 fabrics from either Fresh-Squeezed Online or Fresh-Squeezed on Etsy.
2. Create a mosaic of your chosen fabrics and come up with a name for your bundle.
3. Upload them to Flickr or write a blog post about them, then link up here. When you link up, use your bundle name as the linky name.
Rita from Red Pepper Quilts, Faith from Fresh Lemons Quilts and Randi will each choose their favourite bundle based on the bundle itself and the name. From these 3 finalists, Alyce will choose her ultimate favourite and this person will win a fat quarter bundle of their fabric selection. The 2 runner ups will win a fat eighth bundle of their fabric selection.
Here is my low volume bundle. I am calling it 'Quiet As A Mouse'. Low volume = quiet and there are those sweet Nursery Versery mice in there.
Good luck to everyone who enters!

Sunday Stash # 12
I picked up these little treasures at the annual Northampton Airing Of The Quilts last weekend. Sadly, I forgot my camera and when I got to Mum's place to pick her up, the battery was flat on hers. I will make sure not to make the same mistake next year.
These were 50cm cuts for $5.00 each.
I'm absolutely in love with Red Pepper Quilts latest low volume quilt. Looking in my fabric cupboard, I realised that I actually have a good amount of low volume fabrics. This didn't stop me from heading into my local quilt shop and getting some more for the stash. Hey, they still have their 30 - 50% off everything sale on so I'm saving myself money really :)
A low volume quilt will be the perfect opportunity for me to use up some of the precious Heather Ross Lightning Bugs fabric that I have stashed away.

Wednesday's Work In Progress (Cameo Quilt)
Cut and laid out the grey sashing strips last night. It looks fantastic. The grey really makes the Cameo pop.

Truck Stop Quilt (Work In Progress)
I finished the top for a custom order last week. It's a king single bed size quilt for a little boy. His mum chose this fantastic out of print fabric, Truck Stop by Alexander Henry Fabrics, and the co-ordinating blue dot fabric. We have matched this with blues and greens to suit his bedroom. She also wanted a large navy border so I went with Navy Kona (which looks a lot lighter in this photo than it actually is).
I'm thinking navy and white stripe binding and a pieced back with the leftover fabrics. Just waiting on confirmation. Now to work out how to quilt it....

Tuesday Stuff
Mum, Master 2 and I went to the annual Geraldton Patchwork Club Craft Fair on Sunday. Lots of beautiful quilts on display as well as the chance to buy quilts and all things crafty.
Here are my purchases. A Lorax fabric fat quarter (for the I-Spy stash) and a cupcake pincushion (thanks Mum).
Yesterday I hit my local quilt shop to get the grey fabric for my Cameo quilt. I also picked up this fat quarter of Joel Dewberry Herringbone in Pond and a fat eighth of this Prints Charming Starburst fabric.
Master 2 and I are having a quiet afternoon after going to see Peter Combe in concert this morning. He was fantastic and I think some parents enjoyed it more than their kids!

Cameo Quilt (Work In Progress)
On Saturday night, while Master 2 watched Shrek 3 and played with his Matchbox cars, I laid out the strips for my Cameo quilt. I ended up moving a few bits around after I took these photos. Can't have fabrics the same too close to each other!
Chain piecing the strips, they came together really quickly. This pattern is definately a winner. Fantastic if you needed a lap quilt in a hurry for a gift.
Now I'm off to my local quilt shop to get the grey fabric for sashing. Stay tuned.

Sunday Stash # 11
I haven't had much to report the last few weeks re fabric purchases. I have been broke good.
I noticed that Spotlight had a new range of pirate fabric, and it was on sale. You may already know that I'm stashing pirate fabric for a quilt for Master 2. I had some dollars left over on a gift card that I got for my birthday from my sister so I used it to get some.
Yesterday I purchased this Side Braid quilt pattern from Jeni at In Color Order. I had been admiring it just last week and then I saw her Weekend Sale blog post. 15% off all her patterns until Sunday. I think it will be the perfect pattern to use my Sugar & Spice fat quarter stash with.
Next weeks Sunday Stash could be interesting. My local quilt shop, Finch's Nest, is having their big 30% off everything sale again (and 50% of selected fabrics) starting on Monday and going for three weeks. And I have a gift voucher :)

QCA Bee - October Blocks
Quick, simple and so effective are the October blocks for Kelly.
11" blocks made with black, bright purple and lime green. You can find Kelly's tutorial here.
I sent the link to my mum and we are both already thinking of all the possibilities for this block.
Kelly's quilt will look amazing.

Amy Butler's Cameo Sew-A-Long Contest
Some of you that know me will know that I am a huge fan of Amy Butler fabric. My mum sent me an email last night with the details of Amy Butler's Cameo Sew-A-Long Contest. Funnily enough, I had purchased a Cameo 10" square pack and a 5" square pack only a few weeks back. It arrived in my post office box today. I have taken this as a sign.
I have decided on a quilt layout. My original idea included a solid navy fabric (I have a thing for navy at the moment) but I went into my local quilt shop today to have a look and have come out with something completely different in mind. A dark grey cross hatch print. It really makes the colours of the Cameo fabrics pop! I have a gift voucher to spend and Monday will be the start of a big sale, 30% off everything, so I will go and purchase it then.
This one will definately be a keeper.
