Red & Aqua String Block Top

Last night I finally put together all the blocks for my Quilt Club Australia Block Bee 2 quilt. My red and aqua string blocks.

The top measures 45" x 60". I had originally planned for it to be 60" x 60" but I just couldn't bare to make any more blocks. I was over it. It's still going to be a nice lap quilt and it's more about showcasing the blocks that my friends in the Bee have made than making a specific size quilt.

I have chosen Perfectly Perched Nesting Chairs In Celebration for the back, which I need to order, but I can't decide on a binding. Later in the week I will take it into my local quilt shop and audition a few fabrics.

What do you think would be good for the binding?

  1. Looks great Waverlee. Much prefer your limited palette to my totally scrappy version. Red, aqua and white are always winners. No idea on binding, though, sorry. Definitely audition a few.

  4. Looks great! Love those colours together. Maybe a red and white stripey binding or something totally wacky like yellow? Or is that just too wierd? Found you through Plum and June link up.

  7. Love! And a great choice for the backing. I think red would look fabulous as the binding.

  8. Holy cow! That quilt looks like a lot of work - but beautiful! And the backing is a perfect choice. I know it sounds maybe bland - but I think a plain whit binding would look really good. You have so much awesomeness on the front with the red and aqua and the back is such a great pattern - I think the white will make it all pop and look crisp. Looking forward to your finish.
    cheers!
